Meet The Vervo Group’s CEO: Vision, Contributions, and Business in Dubai
In light of Vervo Middle East recently receiving an honorary award in Dubai, we wanted to have an interview with the CEO of The Vervo Group for Shipping and Logistics Solutions, Mr. Maris Dreimanis.

About the Vervo Group
We started by asking Mr. Maris to give us a 30-second elevator pitch on Vervo and his Latvian and Baltic origins. He stated that: "The Vervo Group is a leading freight forwarding and logistics group of companies headquartered in Latvia. We are trusted by over 8,000 clients who rely on our cargo transportation solutions to and from more than 120 countries. Every year, the Vervo Group acquires over 1500 new regular clients. Our clients' trust is built on our core values of safety, convenience, and comfort. These are the aspects Vervo's clients and partners appreciate the most when building long-term partnerships with one of its companies."
When we asked Mr. Maris about the total geographical area in which The Vervo Group is located, he said, "We have companies in Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and the UAE. We are already planning this year to open one in France as well. This step allows us to connect Asia, the Middle East, and Europe."
"What sets The Vervo Group apart and what is your distinctive business-savvy approach?" We asked Mr. Maris. "One of the many things we are proud of is our long-lasting reputation. We constantly measure our customer satisfaction through surveys. Another feature of our business approach is the continuous work on improving our customer service because, in this dynamic age, we know that we cannot stop at what we have achieved," he answered.
Then we asked, "Why did you choose to commence operation in the UAE?" And Mr. Maris answered, "Given the present geopolitical situation, we understand that the UAE is becoming the bridge between Asia and Europe. With the innovative infrastructure of the UAE and the Emirati leadership's support of logistics businesses, the country offers prospects for growth; in this sense, we see the potential in the UAE to provide freight forwarding to our current worldwide clients and strategic partners. Considering the wide-range logistics services Vervo Middle East can provide, we also see the potential to gain new clients in the region."
After establishing Vervo Middle East in the UAE as part of the Vervo Group, what are your expansion plans for the company for the short- and long-term futures in the region and beyond? We asked. Mr. Maris said. "We have big plans for the future; however, we will show you the results instead of talking about them."
So, we asked about his vision for Vervo going forward. He stated that "As a logistics partner, we always seek to establish our name by giving our clients the chance to focus on their business growth and save time and resources while providing efficient transportation solutions and offering peace of mind and a feeling of safety. At the Vervo Group, we strive to be the most reliable and convenient logistics partner even with the most complex cargo types."
About Vervo Middle East
We then moved to focus our question on Vervo Middle East and asked Mr. Maris to describe the scope of his services portfolio. He said, "We provide a wide range of transport and logistics management solutions. At the moment, it is an average of 300 cargo transported per day, and we are increasing this volume by using all kinds of transportation modes: road freight, sea freight, and air freight. Our services include cargo tracking, cargo insurance, customs brokerage, and other services."
Next, we asked him to make the case for Vervo Middle East’s growth in the region. He stated, "Given our well-researched business and marketing strategy based on thoroughly developed internal processes and competencies, we expect Vervo Middle East to grow fast in the first few years. At Vervo Middle East, we trust our potential long-term clients will value and appreciate the professionalism of Vervo's experts."
Given your answers about the company’s portfolio and the growth prospects, what has Vervo achieved since its founding in the UAE? And to what does Mr. Maris attribute this performance? We asked. Mr. Maris said in that regard, "Vervo Middle East got exposure in its first year in the UAE. So far, we have met with many strategic logistics players in the country and uncovered potential partnerships. We have been active in building our foundation in the country and discovering more about the United Arab Emirates."
Then he continued, "In less than a year, Vervo Middle East got the "Rookie of the Year" award for its outstanding performance; that helped establish a solid awareness of The Vervo Group in Dubai and its branch in the Middle East."
He stated that "Vervo Middle East may start hiring Emirati labor by the end of this year. Currently, we are focusing on freight forwarding for our clients in Northern Europe and the UAE. The Vervo Group constantly works on expanding its activities and services even more."
The CEO of the Vervo Group attributed this performance in the UAE to many factors. He stated, "This progress is related to the facilitation and support provided by the United Arab Emirates’ remarkable leadership." Then he added, "Another factor is the vitality of the logistics industry itself in the last two years amid the challenging global environment." Then he spoke about factors related to the company’s competencies. He said, "Among the factors are the tech-driven infrastructure of the Vervo Group that we built over 14 years, besides the wide-range network we cover and the strategic players we partner with. In addition to our experts' efforts and professionalism in planning bespoke and innovative solutions. Finally, The Vervo Group's long history of reliability and responsiveness." Mr. Maris continued.
Given this performance, Vervo Middle East was the recipient of the Rookie Company of the Year award for the maiden 2022 edition of the just concluded Landmarks in Logistics Awards. We asked Mr. Maris to tell us about this accomplishment in such a short time in Dubai. And he said, "The ones who work both harder and smarter are the ones who get noticed and appreciated."
Finally, we asked about his top clients or customers presently, and he stated that "The Vervo Group has served a variety of vital and strategic industries, so far. You can check previous clients' feedback on Vervo's solutions for different industrial sectors. We introduced bespoke shipping and logistics solutions for construction, food, healthcare, e-commerce businesses, etc. No matter the shipment's size or destination, we efficiently performed over 109,000 various cargo deliveries." He then added, "We cannot mention any specific names of current clients. However, they are companies from metalworking, woodworking, food, and other industries."
Trade relations between the Baltic Republics and GCC countries
We wanted to get a glance at Mr. Maris’s viewpoint on the trade relations between the Baltic Republics and GCC countries.
We asked him, "How would you characterize the trade relations between the Baltic Republics and the GCC? What growth prospects do you foresee?" He stated, "Given the global situation, we could say that trade relations between the two regions are at the starting point of development. Thanks to the governments of both regions, trade relations are being strengthened independently."
"That development, I see, is evident in the recent surge of global cargo movements between the Baltic Republics and the GCC. Growth prospects are noticeable in the ICT services we offer as logistics players to keep global trade seamlessly moving between the two areas." He continued.
And finally, he added, "The tech-driven solutions to transport vital goods between the two regions save us time and resources. It also makes global shipping more cost-effective and eco-friendly."
In light of the growing trade relations between the two areas, what are the opportunities and challenges of Vervo Middle East? We asked. Mr. Maris stated, "When starting to operate in a new region, we realize that there will be many differences and changes in laws, regulations, and even culture. We take our progressive operating model and work with local experts and professionals to adapt it to every specific market we enter. There are many potentials ahead for Vervo Middle East in the region. Our partners constantly praise The Vervo Group's business approach and the stability of our company."
He then said, "Being awarded as a part of the landmarks in logistics in Dubai this year allowed us to showcase our performance in developing strategic partnerships and gaining the trust of leading players. Finally, we wished to know how he hopes to close this year. And he asserted, "This year was full of challenges. However, we have adapted to many changes. At Vervo Middle East, we know how to work in a dynamic environment, and we will finish this year positively."
