Delivery of a large oak tree for the territory's improvement

The demand for services that provide property improvement and landscaping services is becoming bigger and bigger. Starting from lawn maintenance work to planting trees, it is wise to entrust these processes to industry professionals who know all the aspects of plant care and will take care of the improvement of the territory down to the smallest details.

Often, the necessary plants are chosen and purchased not only in other cities but even in other countries. In cases like these, it is essential to provide and organize safe transportation of the plants. And a company that can help you with that is us - Vervo, a transport and logistics company that has been operating since 2008.

At the beginning of November, Pillar, a real estate developer, organized a territory improvement in the "New Hanza" area. It will soon be a place where Class A offices are located. As part of the territory's improvement project, Vervo provided the delivery for an impressive size oak tree. The oak weighed 8 tons and was 12 meters long. It travelled all the way from a tree nursery in Hamburg, Germany. It was carried in the new mega-trailer of Vervo Auto, which can be raised to 3 meters in height and extended up to 3 meters in width. This could not be possible with a standard semi-trailer and a trailer with a platform would create risks for the plant being damaged due to bad weather and other conditions. There were also several smaller trees placed in the closed trailer.

The unloading of the big oak tree was done by a mobile crane. Its branches were tied together, and before it was planted in the ground, a team of professionals took care of freeing the branches. When the ties were taken off, some of the branches were also cut off, so that after planting the tree in the new place, it would not have to "take care" of the smaller branches and it could fully devote itself to adjusting to growing in the new place.

There are two standard methods for unloading the trees. One is by using loading tape around the packed roots and smaller tape around the tree's trunk. The second option is with a root hook. And in this case, both methods were used. One of them was more suitable for the smaller trees and the other - for the big oak.

The first method is mostly used for trees that are large or fragile. A wide cargo unloading strap is wrapped around the large, packed root "ball" and a smaller trunk strap works as a support to hold the tree. Lifting is done only by lifting the roots. To not injure the tree trunk due to high pressure by the unloading strap, in the wrapping place, jute bags were placed. That helped to equalize the pressure on the tree trunk.

If a tree has several trunks, each of them with a diameter of up to 30 centimeters and/or a packed root diameter of up to 80 centimeters, it is more convenient to load and unload them with a root hook. It is attached to the root ball at the bottom to support the weight of the tree. This is how smaller trees that travelled from Hamburg to Riga together with the big oat tree, were unloaded.

To provide safe tree transportation and ensure that the trees are not injured, all the parties involved - the shipper, the receiver, the carrier, and the landscaping company must cooperate the whole transportation time. The unloading process was performed by a team of professionals who knew the best way of unloading and which branches to cut and which to leave. However, the delivery was completed by Vervo Auto, which provides the highest quality cargo shipping in Europe
